Hi
I think that is very wishful thinking!!! I sometimes use local toy libaries they are cheap to use and you can put the charges through your books.
Hi
I think it is really important to remember that buying more ‘open ended ‘ toys, that children can choose to play with in a variety of ways , can really make the investment worth it. For instance, a good set of plain bricks can be used in a myriad of different ways; not just for building, but also for creating small world environments etc, and are great for language development as children story tell as they construct, negotiate with their friends etc. Not just maths and spatial awareness at all. And I think that childminders can really capitalise on the fact that they are in a home environment and can easily supply a wooden spoon and a mixing bowl! simple pleasures!
I dont know of any funding for new toys but Charity shops are a great resource for childrens toys and books obviously taking care that things are clean and safe to use..Most charity shops these days are run extremely professionally and their stock is regularly updated. i’ve also found them very usefulfor buying scrap materials for crafts and small odds and ends for story bags..
I use lots of natural products..go to carpet shops for tubes, carpet and lino remnants, ask around. cardboard boxes from shops, .you`d be surprised what you can get for free.. shops that make curtains have remnants, ask carpenters for bits of wood for blocks [sand them first]
printers will supply offcuts of paper..shall i go on….
